The BERNINA Stitch Regulator can do straight or zigzag stitches: both stitches can be sewn with BERNINA artista models 630, 640, 730, and the B530, B550 and B580 models. The 450 model will only sew straight stitch. The BSR presser foot reacts to the movement of the fabric under the foot, thereby controlling sewing speed. The set stitch length is maintained, irrespective of the movement of the fabric.

The Bernina Stitch Regulator (BSR) produces neat, consistent stitching with stitches of precisely the same length while free-motion sewing. Reacting to the movement of the fabric, it adjusts the speed of the machine automatically when free-motion quilting with the feed dog lowered. it can also sew both straight- and zigzag stitches. It is superbly suited to ambitious professional-level sewing projects such as free-motion quilting on all fabrics.
